When you initiate a transaction in Ledger Live, whether sending Bitcoin to a friend or swapping Ethereum for another token, the application creates the transaction details on your computer. However, the critical step—signing the transaction with your private key—happens exclusively on your Ledger hardware wallet.
This two-step process ensures that even if your computer is compromised by malware, your private keys remain completely secure. You'll verify transaction details on your Ledger device's screen and physically approve it by pressing buttons on the device. Only then does the signed transaction return to Ledger Live for broadcasting to the blockchain network.
